Excellent animation in the service of...

I don't get all the people who say they don't get this animation. I Think it is an example of some excellent animation used in the service of some excellent visual storytelling used in the service of... okay, a story that doesn't make much sense. But I happen to be a fan of stories that don't make much sense.
